Value – My 2020 Word in Wonder and Review
Value, my word for 2020. Dare I say WOW and even try and explain it’s impact? It chose me and clearly had the deepest of lessons from the very beginning. Every year my word/words bring fantastic insight, but as you might imagine, Value for 2020 has carried meaning beyond my wildest dreams. I actually could probably end this post right now with a “fill in the blank” line and ask you to plug in your own interpretation of how “Value” impacted you this year. Actually, if you didn’t choose a word and want to do this, I’d encourage you whole-heartedly to do so. I will, however, continue to review the lessons I received from this cherished of words…
2020 closed and opened chapters impacting my life as well as the lives around me BEFORE this thing called a pandemic ever hit. Once the realities of early March 2020 came to light… life and what I “Value” completely came into different focus. Well, not completely, my faith remained and even grew out of necessity and desire.
The beauty that began in January with my word was put into art by the talented Casey Rant (who created the art for my word) and Seneca, my daughter who created the lettering as you see in the graphic I’ve included. Next, Button Boy, a wonderful small business I love here in Vegas, created the buttons for my word to be shared with others to remind them of their value. This was the first year I did this and was SOOO glad I did. It became a concrete way for me to remind someone to think of their Value and what they Value.
As I write this, I’m keenly aware that my reflection will stay far more brief here and hopefully plant the seed for you to choose a word for 2021, or more importantly allow a word to choose you. If you do, be creative, think outside the box, stick with it and persevere… it’s lessons are priceless!
Here are some great questions that arose over the year …
What do I VALUE? Who do I VALUE? What Did I realize I held VALUE for and did not know? What did I VALUE and realize it was not something to VALUE? What did I simply take for granted and did not even realize VALUE for it existed?
VALUE in 2020: (in no particular order and certainly not ALL I learned)
- My Children
- People’s Smiles
- Hiking with Friends!
- Going Out to Eat
I absolutely encourage you to learn from a word each year and develop your own rituals around it. IF you would like me to facilitate an artful representation of your word for 2021 please reach out to me here when I can contact you and we will make it happen!
Please hold your lessons this year close whether or not you had a word and be open to what the possibilities for 2021 maybe in your life!
