Green Goodness – Nutrient Rich Detox Drink Recipe
Due to many requests for my fruitless smoothie drink recipe, I am posting this Basic Recipe. Please embellish, use what you have and rotate your ingredients often. If you are used to sweet smoothies, you can start by reducing the fruit content and when you are low to no fruit, add your jalapeno peppers. That is unless you don’t mind the sweet and spicy combination.
Green Drink Recipe Basics
This recipe is to serve as a basic guideline for your non-fruit green Smoothie Detox. This is a marriage of the recipes in my Essential Gluten Free Recipes Cookbook and the WILDFIT AlkaGizer.
Ingredients (use what you have and rotate ingredients)
Pictured here:
* Herbal Sun Tea as Base: Elderberry, Lavender and Nettles
* Fresh Ginger
* Fresh Turmeric
* Swiss Chard
* Fresh Lemon and Lime
* Jalapeno Pepper
* Celery
* Fresh Parsley
* Avocado (very important to include some type of good fat for digestion and absorption.)
Easy Steps:
* Brew Sun Tea: Fill a tea bag or pod with your favorite filtered water and your herbal tea mix. Either add hot water and steep or sit out in sunshine.
* Wash and prepare produce. Peel Ginger and Turmeric.
* Combine ingredients to taste in blender until mixed.
(NOTE: If you are not used to fruitless smoothies/drinks start transitioning yourself away from them by including less and less fruit. Avoid banana as its very high in sugar. Berries make Wonderful choices.)
* Pour into drinking glass and glass jar for storing overflow.
Add extras to taste: ie: more lemon and lime, GRAS essential oils (ONLY in Glass container NO plastic) *GRAS stands for generally regarded as safe
*Favorite essential oils to add are usually anything citrus! Lemon, Orange, Lime, Grapefruit, etc. BE sure you are using oils intended for ingestion,. I use Young Living’s Vitality line of essential oils for recipes. The are approved and labeled for internal use.
Helpful Tips:
* Drink first thing in morning on an empty stomach.
* To create a hot drink, use hot liquids like tea or Bone Broth.
* If you are trying to cleanse you can have this as your first two meals of the day.
* Be mindful of veggies/greens that are of the goitrogen family. Constant use can inhibit absorption of certain nutrients.
* If you want to add protein Bone broth is the absolute best source. You’ll want it hot/warm. Makes the drink more of a soup.
* BE VERY cautious of protein powders as the processing many go through can cause harmful side effects. CLEARLY stated, while they may not have harmful ingredients added, the processing process may cause ingredients to become less than beneficial.
